LET'S DO THE SKA!

Been a long time since I posted any SKA, gets hard to remember what you posted when you have done 300 shows...then it occurred to me.
I only know one person who has all those shows and she isn't going to remember if I posted something twice, so away we go.
An hour of SKA tunes from the library- lots on Bluebeat label, all good in my estimation. Most of these I can safely say I have never played, but if I had, you get to enjoy them again right?
Any way- enjoy the music
1.	Open The Door- Clive and Naomi
2.	Him Say You Say- the Steer Towners
3.	Watermelon Man- Byron Lee and the Dragonaires
4.	Walk the Town- Buster’s All-Stars with Don Drummond
5.	Maggie Don’t Leave Me- The Vikings
6.	Crown Me- Stranger Cole
7.	Yeah Yeah- The Riots
8.	Live Up To Justice- The School Girls
9.	Please Stop Your Lying- Errol Dunkley
10.	Butterfly- Horrell Dawkins
11.	Candy Ska- Ewan McDermott & Primo Davidson
12.	Lady With The Red Dress- Gaylads
13.	Little Schoolgirl- Trevor
14.	Sugar Bag- Lee “Scratch” Perry
15.	Hello Honey- Toots and the Maytals
16.	Nanny’s Corner- Don Drummond
17.	Turn Down Date- Cornell Campbell
18.	Rude Boy- The Wailers
19.	Tender Loving Care- Lynn Taitt & The Comets
20.	Going Back To JA- Basil Gabbidon
As always- enjoy

One for the Dogs...silliness at it's best

OK, did a cat show- here is the canine version.
Yes, I am one of those weird dog people. The kind who take pictures of their dogs dressed up, goes nowhere without them, let's them sleep in the bed even if it means I have not been comfortable for the last 15 years...
In any event, dealing with me is probably far worse for them than my dealing with them- a show for my dogs is imminent, so here it is:
1.Sweet William- Millie Small
2.Hound Dog- Betsy Gay
3.Now I Wanna Be Your Dog- Iggy and the Stooges
4. Isabella- Roy Tan
5.Can Your Monkey Do The Dog- Rufus Thomas
6.Daisy I Love You- Jackie Estick
7.Lazy Miss Daisy- McKinley Mitchell
8. Daisy Belle- Andy Ditto
9.Daisy May- Leon Selph & His Blue Ridge Playboys
10. Black Eyed Daisy- Carolina Chocolate Drops
11.Maga Dog- Chris Murray Combo
12. Walking The Dog- Wayne Hancock (Live Radio Bootleg)
13. Philly Dog- The Mar-Keys
14. Isabelle- The Delkins
15.William It Was Really Nothing- The Smiths
16.William- Janis Martin
17. Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog- Johnny Cash
18. Hot Dog- Corky Jones (Buck Owens)
19. Isobel- Po’ Girl
20. Every Dog Has His Day- Flogging Molly
A mixed bag for sure, but there are some gems here- I hope you all can make it through it.
As Always- ENJOY

The Ladies of Americana?

Good enough- that I can do. It is not Reggae (in fact, I ought to get crackin' on some reggae or y'all are going to get testy aren't ya?)- not even close. This is the kind of music you go see under Redwood trees in Northern California, surrounded by hippies and men wearing Sarongs (yeah- awesome huh), but in spite of the normal crowd, I endure it because I like the music.
In any event, this one goes out to wifey and her sis, who will love it. Their mom, who will also love it, and of course, everyone else out there...who might like it little and hopefully not totally write me off.
Ahhh WAIT- I am thinking Lucy is going to like it too, and Leanne. Guess that's enough of ya' to make it a legitimate endeavor.
As always- Enjoy
1.	Blondie- Hanging on the Telephone
2.	Dreaming- Amy Speace
3.	The One I Love- Rosie Thomas
4.	When Doves Cry- The Be Good Tanyas
5.	There is a Light- Zoe Woodbury High
6.	Oh Canada- Kathleen Edwards
7.	Your Fire, Your Soul- Dar Williams
8.	Man Of The People- Tres Chicas
9.	All This Weight- Sara Borges

One for an old friend...

OK- so I feel like an idiot for two reasons. First, I have friends that were once the most important things in my life...who I now only know through FaceBook (yeah- shoot me right?). That is my first offense.
Second- I have compromised myself for over 300 show because of my job. I am a teacher and with that comes the idea that your students are always "looking" for you. For years, this has governed the majority of my actions- in fact, I can safely say I have censored every show I have ever done because of it...
Why? I don't know- It is just music.
Now for the show. this show is dedicated to an old friend Max. We used to play records way too loud on his dads back porch and dang it, I miss that. In any event, he posted something about Steve Earl, and it reminded me how much I like Steve Earl...Scott H. Biram was a simple "next step" in my brain.
Kids- Scott is not nice. He sings about things in life you will know about later (like how unpleasant it can be) and he does so using course language. If you do not want to be exposed to course language- turn this show off. If you are exposed to it...well, your parents should spend more time looking at what you are doing on the internet- not my problem.
Scott- you are the greatest- thank you for making country sound the way it ought to. I appreciate it and hopefully some of the folks that hear this will buy your stuff at http://www.scottbiram.com/ or even go to your shows. If they don't, they are just sissies.
OK- I have come clean-
Now for the music

1.	Wreck My Car
2.	Get Me Religion
3.	18 Wheeler Fever
4.	Reefer Load
5.	Throw a Boogie/Black Betty/Just a Little Bit (medley)
6.	Lost Case of Bein’ Found
7.	Whiskey
8.	Downtown Chicken (live)
9.	Raisin Hell Again
10.	Muleskinner Blues
11.	Been Down To Long

<itunes:summary>OK- so I feel like an idiot for two reasons.

A heartfelt Thank You...

This Saturday an old friend hosted a party for the record company he works at...it seems it was their fifth anniversary. In that five years, the company had acquired the entire catalog for the greatest street punk band of all time- Cocksparrer. So here I am, ready to quietly convalesce and not having been to a punk show in well over ten years, finding myself at a show I had waited for for at least 20 years.
IT WAS AMAZING.
I cannot describe how it took me back to a time when I was a lot younger and dumber (which is a good thing), and also, at the time, filled me with all kids of self doubt. I can't take the pit and have no use for posturing anymore- that much is true, but the music....well, it speaks to a part of me that will never go away.
So this started as a reggae show and as I had another cocktail, I realized that my old Oi! records needed a rinsing- what we ended up with is kind of a mess, but it is my show so here you go- right?
A HUGE thanks to Pirates Press records, especially Damon and Laura, for having me out for the evening. I promise in the future to have some of their "more contemporary" releases on the show- for they have some amazing stuff to offer. Also, a thanks to Mike at Longshot Records for offering up, and simply enjoying the podcast- I appreciate it, and his stuff will be here as well.
Now for the promotional portion of our show-
NOBODY makes vinyl as beautiful as Pirates Press- need a record pressed (or a CD, or printing)- get it here
http://www.piratespressrecords.com/store/
And, while I have just started having a listen, if it is Street Punk and Oi! you crave- I doubt you will find anyone with their finger on the pulse as much as this fellow- go order some tunes, right?

Dave gets the BLUES

I admittedly know NOTHING about what good blues music is, but was once again provoked by Tony to try my hand at it. Here I am, stepping entirely out of my comfort zone to bring you a mix and match collection of blues that have caught my ear along the way and told me "I must have that tune". If they are chronologically screwed up...I apologize. If they are lousy examples of the genre, I apologize. If some of them would not even fit into the category had I consulted a purist or two-= well, the heck with purists. What is here is in my estimation a collection of great tunes that I own because they MADE me own them, not because I went and sought them out- as always, I hope you enjoy them.
1. Baby Please Don’t Go- Big Joe Williams
2. Mad as a Man Can Be- Tal Carter
3. I’m Wild About You Baby- Lightnin’ Hopkins
4. Mean Low Blues- Blues Birdhead
5. Caught- Mamie Ree
6. Sunday Morning Coming Down- Alvin Youngblood Hart
7. I Got The Whiskey- Sam Chatmon
8. Blues Hangover- Slim Harpo
9. Dust My Broom- Elmore James

<itunes:summary>I admittedly know NOTHING about what good blues music is, but was once again provoked by Tony to try my hand at it.
